Short Biography of Floater
Floater is:
Robert Wynia - vocals, bass
David Amador - guitar
Peter Cornett - drums
Way back before Floater existed.... in 1993 Rob and Pete were in a band called Henry's Child. Somewhere along that faded line Rob and Pete jumped ship and formed Floater late in the year. After getting Dave in their ranks, they made a six-song demo. Immediately there-after Elemental Records yanked Floater from everyone else's reach and signed them.
Almost all the songs off their original demo tape were placed on "Sink" their first album. It was released in 1994, and there after Floater began to play shows all over Oregon, and then some. They had plenty of other songs worked up as well. So a year later in 1995, Floater released their second album, "Glyph", another outstanding achievement, which was originally intended to be an EP. Floater began touring like wildfire, and spread their arms all over the west coast, even inland to Arizona, Utah, and Texas.
After countless shows all over the western side of the United States, capturing new fans all along the way, they eventually came into their own, capturing the entire attention of the Oregon music scene. After massing up some new colossal material for the new album, they recorded with Rick Parashar up in Seattle in late 1997. Rick Parashar has produced such albums as Alice in Chains, Blind Melon, and Pearl Jam. Upon completion, Floater had to go in to remix some of the songs until they were perfect. After some squabbles over the mixing, Floater went on to remix the album with Drew Canulette who did Glyph. With a few monitary troubles and other complications, the album was released on May 5th, with a new radio single set to bombard the radio stations abroad.
If anyone has seen Floater in concert they feel the tremendous power and originality the band embodies, and they are whiplashed with an emotional story from beginning to end. It is this aspect of Floater that is their greatest asset. And it's no wonder that this band will not stay just a bar band, but will become legends in the history of music.. at least in the eyes of those who count (a little biased? you betchya!). See them live while you still can, spread the word of these legends, and never let go of the innocence, because these boys are aiming for the sky.
